For adults eyes only

Vue cinemas have introduced adult only screenings on some of their films. Even though Quantum of Solace, the new James Bond film has a 12A rating, those aged 18 and over can choose to go to a screening which prohibits youths from watching. Other films scheduled for adult audiences include Yes Man and The Day the Earth Stood Still.

At last! I can go to the cinema in peace and not have my film spoilt by noisy children and chavy teenagers. There is nothing worse than trying to watch a film with kids talking, texting, munching noisly, kicking the back of your chair and having popcorn fights. I have long given over going to the cinema on a Saturday for that very reason.

Its just a pity Vue have not introduced it in all of its cinemas. Lets hope other cinema groups follow suit. Vue is asking customers to enter any other films they would like restricted to adults on its website www.myvue.com/voteover18s

At least now when I watch Quantum of Solace I can drool over Daniel Craig in peace.

What do you think? Will you be going to an adult only screening or do the children not bother you?

I totally agree! I find trying to watch a movie whilst hearing a bunch of noisy, loud mouthed teenagers behind me is somewhat difficult. Plus, when you're spending a lot of money for a cinema ticket you don't want to have to struggle to hear the film over the noise of crunching and chattering or children screaming. Adult only viewings is a great idea, it means you can sit and watch the movie in peace, as you would at home - just with the gigantic screen and plush surround sound!

Thankfully i will be turning 18 in a few weeks, but what about all them young teens who want to sit at the back row and do what teens do at their age. il be the first to raise my hand and say on dates id take my girlfreind to the back row just so we can snuggle up and have a keep quick kiss (yes quick :P )

however i totally agree, iv been fond of going to the cinema and just as i walk into the cinema viewing to find my seat, i look around and there will always be a group of lads and lasses lauhging loudly because the stuipd brat lad has chucked his (overpriced) popcorn at his mate. then later in the movie just when you need to listen to a vital convosation that answers questions to a mystery, only to have a quick lump in your back and rock forward as this fat bummed girl is sat on her knees facing with her head back to the screen just so she can tell her freinds behind her that her phones topped up. grr.

its generally annoying to have these consistant, thick, big mouthed, inconsiderate weasles of teen-animals/humans in the viewing of a film thats cost you that hour wage you work for.
however, i for one am not like that. i enjoy the cinema more than anyone because i love films. i walk in and stay in my seat until the films finished even when it was Lord of the rings (3hours+) and im jigging around because i need loo. overal not every teenager in the world is a hyena but now that il soon be 18, get the rule in there and for those that complain, put cellotape round their mouths. :)

Some very interesting comments here! I'm glad it is not just me that finds this issue really annoying.

Neil you are turning into a grumpy old man and you are not even old enough to vote yet... If only more teenagers were as considerate as you.

Have you seen the new bond film! It should have a 15 certificate if not an 18 certificate. There is a substantial amount of violence. Which make it most certainly inappropriate for the eyes of a 12 year old. I think the certificate which some of these high profile films get given is shocking. The way in which films get a lower age certificate just because the film makers want to maximise their profits is just wrong.

I'm a grumpy old lady and get really agitated by children who are really too young to be expected to sit quietly right through a film or teenagers ringing their friends to tell them where they are and intent on making as much noise as possible just to annoy people. Let's face it, going to the cinema nowadays is a luxury. It certainly isn't a cheap night out anymore.

*steps back in time*

It's Saturday night, I don't have enough money to go out drinking but I don't want to stay in. My friend and I go to the cinema, pay to see a double bill (all cinemas used to show 2 films back to back) and we stayed in there all night watching the films over and over. Nowadays you get chucked out before the credits have finished rolling.

All cinemas should have an 'adults only' night but, let's face it, most of the under 18's look over 18 nowadays anyway, so I don't think it will stop them.
